As the Library Director, I would like to take time to express my personal thanks for everyone who helps to make the library the wonderful place of community that it is. I would like to thank the City of Lexington and Henderson County for their support of the library. Without their support, there would not be a library. Thanks also to the many businesses which provide newspapers and magazines subscriptions for your enjoyment: Farm Bureau/Mike Sellers, First State Bank, Henderson County Community Hospital, Henderson County News, Lexington Electric System, Lexington Progress, and Lexington Water Works. I am thankful for the businesses (which vary from year to year) who give to fund our Summer Reading Program for the kids. I am thankful for our Library Friends group. It is through their efforts that the library has been able to buy the necessary materials for our patrons. I am thankful for each of you (organizations and individuals) who give donations and memorials to the library. They serve as gifts to the whole community. I am thankful for a staff that believes in customer service and happily go the second mile to meet your needs. They are Jerome Azbell, Stephanie Crouse, and Joy Johnson. I am thankful for our senior support workers Redonna Holmes and Jean Maness. I am thankful for our volunteers: Gail Byrd, Joy Beth Campbell, Nicki Coffman, Cathy Frey, Ann Irwin, and Monica Reyes. I am thankful for a Library Board that believes in the library’s mission. These men and women give hours of their lives and receive very little recognition in exchange. They are Celia Barrow, Jerry Bingham, Jim McKee, Pope Thomas, Mike Ujcich, Cindi Williams, and Aaron Wood. (Applause here.) I am very thankful for a job that I enjoy and find very fulfilling, serving my friends and neighbors. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
