Each night last week at the Henderson County Fair, the Library Friends gave away a coupon worth five free books of your choice at the Library Friends Book Sale scheduled for early December. Winners of the coupons were as follows: Jennifer Mullins, Stephanie Bryant, Carolyn Winn, Brent Bunn, Kristy Greer, and Barbara Fisher.
The Henderson County Imagination Library (HCIL) also gave away a gift: a $100 Wal-Mart gift card. Winner of the gift card was Cheryl Hughes. Cheryl graciously gifted the $100 gift card back to HCIL. All golfers are invited to participate in HCIL’s Golf Tournament scheduled for September 25 at Pine Tree Country Club. Registration begins at 11:00 with a box lunch. Tee-off time is 1:00 pm. All proceeds go to support HCIL.
There will be a very special author event at the library on Sunday afternoon, September 27, at 2:00 pm. Carolyn Tomlin, co-author of “The Secret Holocaust Diaries: The Untold Story of Nonna Bannister,” will do a special presentation on the book. This is a haunting eye-witness account of Nonna Bannister, a Russian-American woman who saw, suffered, and survived the unspeakable evils of Hitler. She kept her tragic story a secret for half a century; she locked up all her photos, documents, diaries, and dark memories from World War II in a trunk in her attic. Late in her life, she unlocked her trunk and shared her story with her husband. Now, she is sharing it with the rest of the world. This is an unforgettable true story about forgiveness, courage, and hope. Please join us for this special program.
Preschool Story Time will be meeting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 29. They will be studying about the letter E.
