On April 7, Preschool Story Time will meet at Guy B. Amis Playground at 10 am. They will be having their Easter egg hunt at the park.

The Library will be closed on Friday, April 10, in observance of Good Friday, but the library will be open on Saturday, April 11.

On April 14, Preschool Story Time will have special guests for National Library Week. The Pied Pipers of Freed Hardeman University will be performing at 10 am here at the library.

On April 17, there will be a special presentation at the library at 3:00 pm. Representatives of ConnectedTN will officially present a gift of 14 new computers to the library. You are invited to attend this ceremony.

AARP representatives will not be on hand to assist you in filling out your Federal Income Tax forms on Thursday, March 26, but they will be available on Tuesday, March 31, from 12:30 -4:30 pm. Although their appointments are full, they do work in walk-ins as time permits. So far, they have been able to work in everyone that has come for assistance.

On March 28, we will host our annual “Countdown to Kindergarten” from 3:00-5:00. If you have a child who will be starting to school in the fall of 2009, you will not want to miss this event. Representatives from the City and County school systems will be on hand to inform parents about health, food, transportation, safety, and other issues you will deal with when you have a child in school. Children in attendance will be entertained with snacks, puppets, a school bus, and a fire truck while the parents are in the informative session. All children in attendance who are beginning kindergarten will receive a free “I’m going to Kindergarten” t-shirt.

Preschool Story Time will be meeting at the library on March 31th at 10:00 am.

Also, on March 31, the library will be installing new computers, so there will be very limited (if any) Internet access available that day.

Thursday, March 19, will be a very busy day at the library. AARP representatives will be on hand to assist you in filling out your Federal Income Tax forms from 12:30 -4:30 pm. Although their appointments are full, they work in walk-ins as time permits. So far, they have been able to work in everyone that has come for assistance.
At 1:00 on Thursday, the Library Book Club will host author Julia McBee. She will be speaking about her book Flame. Please join them for this special meeting.
At 5:00 on Thursday, the Library Friends will hold their regular monthly meeting in the Library Community Room. They will plan the upcoming yard sale. If you have any items you would like to donate to the sale, please bring them by the library or call 968-3239 if you need someone to pick them up.
At 6:00 on Thursday, the Library Board will be meeting in the Library.

Preschool Story Time will not be meeting at the library on March 24th due to school being out. If weather is permitting, parents and preschoolers are planning to meet at Beech Lake at 10:00 am to fly kites instead. If you like, bring bread crumbs for the ducks and a picnic lunch for yourself.

The Beech River Writer’s Group will not be meeting on Wednesday evening, March 25, but will meet again on the fourth Thursday of April at 6:00 pm. This will be their regular meeting time. We are very excited about this group of local writer’s! If you a writer or an aspiring writer from Henderson County, you will want to join this group!

AARP Representatives will be at the library on Tuesday, March 17, from 12:30-4:30 pm to assist patrons in filling out their income tax forms. All appointments are full, but they are very good about working people in. So, if you need help, come on by.
On Friday, March 13, at 1:00 pm, representatives of H & R Block will conduct an informational session at the library to inform you of how the “New Recovery Act” will affect you. This is free and open to the public.
There will be no preschool on March 17 due to schools being dismissed.
The Library Book Club will meet on March 19 at 1:00 pm with special guest Julia McBee. She will be discussing her book Flame. Please join us for this special event!
The Library Friends will be meeting on March 19 at 5:00 pm for their regular monthly meeting. Discussion will include the upcoming yard sale.
